How to become a Database Architect

Database architects will usually need several years of experience coupled with education in information technology, computer science, or computer engineering — specifically in areas of database management.

For senior positions, a master’s degree is usually preferred along with at least five years of experience in network and performance management, as well as application architecture.

Data architects can continue to expand their knowledge with additional certifications and courses from companies like IBM, Salesforce and Hortonworks. See Best Database Certifications.
