How to become an Executive Producer

There are no specific educational requirements for an executive producers. Many executive producers advance into the position after working within the industry for many years.

Those wanting to be an executive producer in the film industry can start out by focusing on a particular skill, and may want to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Film Production, Directing, Screenwriting, Acting, Cinema Studies, or Creative Writing. Producing and directing short films while in college is highly recommended. From there, it's simply a matter of working in the industry and climbing their way up.

Those wanting to be an executive producer in the television industry can start out by getting a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies or in Television Production, and slowly move up by working in television or radio.
