Are physiotherapists in demand?

According to the Physical Therapy (PT) website, physiotherapists are deemed to hold one of the best jobs in the United States. Forbes identifies physiotherapists as having among the highest rates of job satisfaction. The job outlook for the profession is promising, due to several factors, all of which point to increased demand for rehabilitative care provided by physiotherapists. An aging population is more susceptible to chronic conditions. The baby boomer generation is entering prime age for strokes and heart attacks. Developments in medical technologies are resulting in greater numbers of trauma patients surviving their injuries and in the treatment of previously disabling and fatal conditions. The promising job growth for this occupation, however, is not likely to occur equally across every segment of the healthcare industry. Statistics for the period up to and including the year 2018 suggest that jobs will be most abundant in therapy offices, followed in descending growth order by public and private hospitals, home healthcare services, self-employment, nursing care facilities, and physicians’ offices.
